Having met with Foreign Trade Companies on Saturday, OTİAD Management met with fabric companies today (September 23, 2014). 14 companies attended the meeting where general problems were discussed and ideas on solutions were exchanged.

   Osmanbey Textile Businessmen Association (OTİAD) continues to come together with all components of the sector. Ready-to-wear, fabric manufacturers, foreign trade, accessories... Our association OTİAD, which has managed to gather all segments under the same roof, emphasized the problems of the sector in the meeting held with the participation of 14 companies. Basic problems such as excess supply, lack of planned business, informality, negativities in marketing, long term purchases were identified and solutions were discussed. It was agreed that the fabric sector in Osmanbey undertakes an important mission, and that they are not only the suppliers of ready-to-wear companies, but also the financiers who open loans in a sense. It was stated that sales with maturities of up to 15 months in the market were due to a cyclical oversupply and presented a risky situation.

   As businesses that trade in Osmanbey, it was emphasized that if the principles to be set by the fabric sector are meticulously followed, the problems will be eliminated to a significant extent. These principles are envisaged as issues such as minimum maturities and the search for signature circulars. In the meeting chaired by President İlker Karataş, all participants agreed to come together frequently. President Karataş summarized all the opinions after the meeting and said that everyone should do their part: "First of all, our companies need to invest in their employees and stores. We should never ignore the importance of education. After that, we must comply with the general rules of the market. We need to know that there is no end to living with the risk of losing 20 while trying to earn 10 more. Therefore, everyone needs to set their principles and implement them. We need to realize that we are at the root of all the problems."

   Market conditions have changed

   In his speech, Vice President Kutbettin Ayyıldız stated that the market has shrunk with the development of organized retail and emphasized the importance of acting in accordance with the changing conditions. Ayyıldız emphasized the importance of communication between fabric manufacturers and expressed the importance of all sensitive tradesmen coming together under the roof of OTİAD.
