IBB Discussed Istanbul Environmental Plan with Sector Representatives
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) urban planners and representatives of the textile, leather and apparel sectors came together. Within the scope of the 1/100.000 Scale Istanbul Environmental Plan Revision and 1/25.000 Master Plan, IMM officials met with the industrial sub-sectors and received their opinions on the subject. Project Coordinator City Planner Emre Öztürk gave information on the subject at the meeting; Spatial development trends, Sectoral relationship and clustering tendency, Transportation, logistics and storage, Expectations from the plan studies were evaluated and the opinions of the participants on the planning process were taken. OTİAD President İlker Karataş, Board Members Cüneyt Mutkan and Ekrem Karakaya attended the meeting.
Giving information about OTİAD and Osmanbey, President Karataş touched upon the problems and importance of Osmanbey. Reminding that Osmanbey is an important center of attraction in the textile sector, Karataş mentioned that while planning, facilities where centers such as Osmanbey, Laleli, Merter, Bayrampaşa and Zeytinburnu can carry out their activities under better conditions should be planned. Underlining that a fair center that is easily accessible for the ready-to-wear sector, close to central locations and where the municipality can act together with the sector is one of the most important needs, President Karataş said that such projects are important for the future of the sector.
After the other sector representatives expressed their views, it was decided that the authorities would visit the textile and apparel centers and see the situation on site.
