22nd Istanbul International Home Textile Fair Started

Istanbul International Home Textile Fair (EVTEKS), the world's second largest home textile fair organized by TETSİAD and CNR Fuarcılık, opened its doors for the 22nd time. The fair will be open until Saturday, May 21, 2016.

 The 22nd Istanbul International Home Textile Fair (EVTEKS) was opened with the participation of Deputy Minister of Economy Fatih Metin, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mehmet Büyükekşi, Turkish Home Textile Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TETSİAD) President Yaşar Küçükçalık, OTİAD President İlker Karataş, LASIAD President Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca and CNR Holding Chairman Ceyda Erem.

 Fatih Metin, Deputy Minister of Economy, started his opening speech by expressing his pride in the 22nd edition of the fair. Describing it as pleasing to see a foreign trade surplus of 1 billion 600 million dollars in the sector despite the recent decline in home textile exports in this period of shrinking world trade, Metin said that this figure shows the strength and capacity of the sector. In their speeches, TIM President Mehmet Büyükekşi and TETSİAD President Yaşar Küçükçalık emphasized the place and importance of home textiles in exports.

 140 Thousand People Expected to Visit
 Evteks, one of the two largest fairs in the world in its field, is also eagerly awaited by global industry professionals. For the first time this year, the Home Textile Committee meeting of the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) will be held at the fair. It will host an international event in this scope for the first time in the home textile sector, and will host the decision makers of the home textile sector from China to the USA, from Europe to India. The fair, where all the innovations in the home textile sector will be exhibited and the products that shape the fashion will be presented to the visitors, is being held on an area of 160 thousand square meters at Istanbul CNR Expo Fair Center. The 22nd Evteks International Home Textile Fair, which is attended by over a thousand companies, 200 of which are foreign companies, is expected to be visited by 140 thousand people, 40 thousand of whom will be foreigners.

 OTİAD President İlker Karataş was present at the opening of the fair together with Board Members Mustafa Türk, Efrayim Kebudi and Secretary General Sami Kurt.
