OTİAD Management came together with fabric companies... In the meeting attended by 13 companies, the problems experienced by fabric manufacturers, the situation of the market and the future of the sector were discussed and ideas were exchanged on solutions.

Osmanbey Textile Businessmen Association (OTİAD) brought together the fabric manufacturers operating in Osmanbey and listened to their problems. At the meeting held with the participation of 14 companies, fabric manufacturers emphasized the problems of the sector. The main problems such as unfair competition, the problem of incentives, the problem of returns, exchange rate-based sales and its consequences, agencies selling goods to the market, excess supply, lack of planned business, informality, negativities in marketing, purchases made with long maturities, and the traffic problem of Osmanbey were identified and solutions were discussed. In the meeting chaired by President İlker Karataş, 300 fabric companies were invited to the meeting and expressed their regret that the participation was limited to those present here. President Karataş summarized all the opinions after the meeting and said that everyone should do their part.

MEETING NOTES

At the end of the meeting, the opinions and proposed solutions on various issues and problems were as follows:

• İlker Karataş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OTİAD; Osmanbey stated that as OTİAD, we are the professional organization that has shown the greatest resistance to the anti-dumping duties imposed against imported fabrics, which are the main input of our ready-to-wear sector, and that we will put forward the necessary struggle against all anti-dumping investigations and tax shifts that we are right from now on.
• The danger that the maturities in fabric trade have started to exceed 1 year was pointed out and the importance of all our Osmanbeyli fabric sector to be careful and show the necessary sensitivity in this regard was pointed out. It was agreed that the most important factor causing this maturity length is the excess supply of products in the markets and stocks and the lack of demand.
• Upon the request of Şafak Street to be a pilot for the closure of Osmanbey streets to traffic on the grounds of arbitrary parking and traffic disorder on Şafak Street, where the fabric sector is dense, President Karataş summarized the work carried out by OTİAD with Şişli Municipality and UKM (Transportation Coordination Center) on this issue since 2011. As a result of the consultations with the Municipality, he shared the information that as a result of the consultations with the Municipality, they acted slowly in order not to do a wrong job because the issue of closing and pedestrianization of our Osmanbey streets to traffic is an issue that needs to be thought very sensitively and well planned; Within the scope of a master plan carried out with Şişli Municipality and Technical University, he shared the information that a Macro traffic regulation studies are being carried out for Şişli.
• Upon being brought up by Murat Gökmen (Burç Kumaş); In the negotiations held regarding the collection of the "Sample Fabric" fees requested by the customer; It was agreed that it is essential to make it a procedure to collect the costs of samples in our sector as in the past, and it was stated that only in large-scale purchases, the collection of sample fees can be avoided to some extent with the agreement of the buyer and seller.
• It has been agreed that exchange rate differences are very important in fabric trade in cyclical processes where exchange rates are volatile, and it has been deemed appropriate to recommend that all our sector take the necessary measures (contract, contract, invoice, etc.) to ensure that they are not victimized in this regard.
• Within the scope of the previously mentioned excess supply in the market, the recommendation to reduce the purchase and stocking of goods by % 30 compared to the previous period as a precaution against the lack of demand was deemed appropriate.
• Considering the conditions in which other sectors in trade relations are in, it has been agreed on the importance of putting our hats in front of us as the fabric sector and questioning and self-criticizing where mistakes have been made.
• President İlker Karataş shared his impressions and thoughts with the audience that the wholesaler-supplier traders will disappear in 5-10 years in the process of evolution of the developing international consumption and marketing systems and that the system of making the supply of the manufacturer-retailer ready-to-wear sector directly from the manufacturer companies is becoming widespread and that it is necessary to determine policies accordingly.
• Other Topics
• Upon the request to increase the number of WhatsApp groups to 100 people, Kemal Kartal was assigned to increase the Fabric Reference Group to 100 people, primarily from OTİAD members.
• In line with Kemal Kartal's suggestion, it was recommended that our OTİAD Education Committee should work on providing training seminars on Trend and Fashion and Financial Commercial Issues, especially for the Osmanbey Fabric sector.
• It was recommended that a breakfast meeting be organized at Ramada or Anthill in order to ensure a wider participation of our Fabric Sector in such meetings.
• It has been agreed that expanding our OTİAD Fabric Sector Committee and holding meetings once a month will increase the interest of our sector in such meetings.
