President Avdagiç in charge at ITO

Şekib Avdagiç became the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), of which 1 out of every 4 companies in Turkey is a member.

 The Assembly Members of ITO belonging to 81 different professions came together at the Chamber's Eminönü Headquarters on April 14 to elect the new Board of Directors; according to the results of the election, Şekib Avdagiç became the 24th Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITO, which has a long history of 136 years. The new board of directors of ITO under the chairmanship of Avdagiç consisted of the following names: Şekib Avdagiç, İsrafil Kuralay, Servet Samsama, İbrahim Doğan Salman, Dursun Topçu, Ahmet Özer, Yakup Köç, Burhan Polat, Levent Taş, Bahadır Yaşık, Adil Coşkun.

A Guarantee for Turkey's Bright Future

 Şekib Avdagiç, the new President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, said in his speech to the Assembly Members after the announcement of the election results, "A brand new road lies ahead of us. Our projects that will strengthen the strength of our 400 thousand members will be a strong guarantee for the bright future of Turkey under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Our point-shot projects that will play a key role in growth are ready. We do not have an hour to lose." Avdagiç thanked all institutions, non-governmental organizations and sector representatives, especially the members of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, who fully supported the nomination process with a great consensus. Avdagiç said, "Many of our friends have been with us at this point, supported us, and put their hands under the stone. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of them."

 The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce is one of the five largest chambers in the world by number of members. ITO represents 1 out of every 4 companies in Turkey on average. ITO members account for 28 percent of national income, 43 percent of total tax revenue and more than 50 percent of total foreign trade volume.

WHO IS ŞEKİP AVDAGİÇ?

 Şekip Avdagiç was born in 1959 in Zenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He graduated from ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He completed his specialization program at Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration. Since 2005, he has worked as a manager at various levels at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Avdagiç, who is also the Chairman of the 2010 European Capital of Culture Executive Committee, is a member of MÜSİAD and Pendik Local Development Platform.
